wasnt sure wherei should have posted this....
We`ve all heard it. Commercialism has saturated hip-hop. Money, cars, the exploitation of women are the dominant themes of hip-hop. Artists lie about their experiences and present an image of themselves entirely different from the truth. Feuds aren`t even real anymore. How far hip hop has strayed... Now, country music has more originality than hip-hop! When will it stop?!
actually i saw this posted on BP...these are not my own words...but yanno, I had to post it! I felt it was the perfect discussion for FAMEs forum

just because i am from a certain state doesnt necessarily mean that i will be into country........i used to think its wasnt for "us" but if you listen to the lyrics and get past the plucking of the git-tars a person might find that they like it......i dont like all country either just some........btw can i see that dance on tape? ;D

LoL, while we're on the topic of all types of music, I love me some alternative music. This stems from my Jimmy Hendrix obsession. I have a huge guitar fetish. So I find myself deep into groups like Disturbed, Nirvana (My best friend has a crush on the dead guy ) System of a Down, White Stripes, Lincoln Park..ooo, I could go on. Anywayz! Back to the hip hop topic, we could've ended the exploitation with female rappers off rip, but then cats like Lil Kim came out. While Lil Kim brought a more femme side to hip hop, she hurt it more. I understand that sex sells, but I know I'd rather get more sales for content than what I'm wearin on the front cover. Hip Hop's children are still true to it, while commercial cats are out for the money and nothing but....y'all the art has been exposed to greed, it's time for another Renaissance.

Man *F* white people.. why do we give them soooo much power... like black people are just victims... well i choose not to look at my people as victims... i think there are enough black people around here to do whatever the hell we want to do and be successful... i love hip-hop.. and music and all that.. but sheesh... that's not the ONLY way to make bread and butter... and even if you choose to go that route.. there are still too many genres of music out right now and yet to be discovered to just choose one that's going to get ya bread and butta but send you to hell later on... i know that it seems white people have the power... but if we continue on with that mentality.. ain't shit gon' change...and if you notice... "it's cool to be black now"... shit that right there should be where black people take the wheel and roll out with it... we are in a position of power RIGHT NOW... so what are going to do about it?

The white man gave us black folk excuses. Most people don't know that excuses are tools of incompetance that build monuments of nothingness, and those that specialize in using them seldom amount to anything. Therefore, proving, we should not use excuses, just like we shouldn't do crack. Questions? Comments? Anyone?
